The “Hit the White Hot Center” Contest is sponsored by The Southeast Review and Robert Olen Butler, author of From Where You Dream: The Process of Writing Fiction. Robert Olen Butler will pick the opening sentences to a short story written by a contestant at AWP that best demonstrates his idea of “the White Hot Center.” The winning and finalist sentences will be published on the SER magazine website, and the winner will receive a copy of Butler’s most recent collection of stories, Severance.
